The day you transferred into your home, it appears that you had lots of free space. As years went by, you might find out that you are becoming a pack rat. What should you do with all the things you have gathered? Perhaps, now is the right time to free your home of useless items and start organizing it.

Home organization is a step-by-step procedure. It will take more than a day or even a week to free yourself from clutter, but once you do stay organized it would be much easier. If you have a family, ask their help. They can help out and become expert on a thing or two about being clutter free.

High Traffic Areas
Start with the high traffic areas in your home. The living room and kitchen are usually the most used rooms in the house. In these two areas, many things get dropped on a counter or on a sofa. The best is to free these areas of any of this undesirable stuff. Concentrate on acquiring everything organized the way that you want it to be before going to the next room.

Storage Containers
Use storage containers. These containers can help you free from so much clutter. Besides, over the years, the style of the storage containers has improved to be nice-looking as well as practical. So, instead of storing these containers in piles in the garage, purchase those that goes with your decor in each room and incorporate them so that no one would even think they were being used for storage.

Categories
Group items into categories. For this part, you can use a heavy duty trash bags. All that you find can go into a pile: GIVE AWAY, KEEP, RELOCATE, and THROW AWAY. Items that will remain in that room are to keep. Throw items that are not needed or already broken. You can give away those clothes or furniture that can still be used to any veteran’s association or Goodwill. And anything that surely belongs in another room can be marked for relocation when you get to that area.

Drawers and Cabinets
Remove everything from cabinets and drawers. Despite the fact that this is a time-consuming procedure, it is more easier to start with free space and fill it up instead of simply pushing things around. If you line things up on the counter, someone else can assist you by placing the items in some type of order.

Free Space
Use all your free space. In the kitchen, for instance, appliances or excess containers can be stacked on top of the cabinets provided that they do not extend completely to the ceiling. And also use the top of the refrigerator for cereal boxes and breakfast food such as boxes of instant oatmeal or grits. While in the bedroom, shoes and winter clothes can be kept in flat storage bins that slide easily under your bed or the dresser.

Label your Containers
Add label on your containers. Use masking tape or any tape and a permanent marker to mark the contents of your containers. Do not write on the container itself if you need to remove the contents for reuse. Labeling also makes for easy identification if you decide to sell it or give it away. You won’t have to go through the content of each container to locate them.

Arranging your whole house may take some time. But home organization is essential, once it is done; returning all you use to its proper place will keep that same level of organization.

It is almost not viable to create a list of common cleaning supply to facilitate every home and each family and home is different that makes their cleaning needs unique. And here is a list of a basic cleaning supply which is broken down into six (6) categories of tools where you can use it as a starting point for creating your own basic cleaning supply list.

Dusting supplies
Dusting is an important task whereas the frequency will depend on your standard of living, furnishings, and any allergies and respiratory issues that your family and friends can have, and this seems like an easy work. Tools for dusting may also differ through personal preference though I advise the following list:

Vacuum Cleaner Dusting Attachment

Cleaning Cloths

Furniture Polish

Dusting Spray

Dust Mop

Trash
Even the least household produces quite a bit of waste and litter. I advise the following tools to take care of trash which are simple although a basic part of making your household runs smoothly

Trash can liners

Recycling Bins

Garbage cans

Baking Soda

General Surface Cleaning
The truth is that each surface in our homes acquires dirt. We should have a good cleaner to keep all the area clean. All you need are:

Bathroom Cleaner or Wipes

Kitchen Cleaner or Wipes

All-Purpose Cleaner

Paper Towels

Scrubbers

Sponges

Gloves

Special Surfaces
There are special surfaces in your home that needs a little TLC when it comes in cleaning them and it is very frustrating in knowing what to use in cleaning them. And I suggest the following products where applicable:

Automatic Dishwasher Detergent

Upholstery Spot Remover

Laundry Stain Remover

Soft Scrubbing Cleaner

Silver or Metal Polish

Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Laundry Additives

Leather Cleaner

Laundry Soap

Air Freshener

Glass Cleaner

Wood Polish

Oven Cleaner

Stone Cleaner

Dish Soap

Bleach

Floors
Cleaning materials used in cleaning the floors will depend on the type of flooring that you have at home. Consider the following needs:

Mopping Solution

Vacuum Cleaner

Floor Polish

Mop Bucket

Dustpan

Broom

Mop

Storage and Organizing
Although everything is clean, we still need to be organized and to have a place to store items in our house. Even though the storage and organizing needs will vary, you can use the following:

Labels or Labelmaker

Storage Containers

Filing System

Cleaning your carpet is very essential to maintain the look and feel of the carpet and also to avoid early replacements. All carpets must be cleaned frequently to prevent from looking dirty and dull. And singapore classifieds being a bit more careful about cleaning and focused to the carpet care basics can save you a lot of money, effort and time.

Here are some tips in cleaning your carpet:

Carpet cleaning solutions are available in the market and it is advisable to try it first to observe how it acts since not all chemicals are suitable for all types of fibers. To start, apply the solution to an inconspicuous part of the carpet and then use a white paper towel to cover the area. You have to let it rest for a couple of minutes to see if there is any color that runs on the paper towel. If it does then it is best not to use it or your carpet may not support the home cleaning at all and have to go for professional cleaning instead.

For home cleaning, work the solution starting outside toward the center of the stain to avoid spreading it to the nearby areas. Use a small amount of solution as possible.

Before choosing a solution, ask first the warranty of the carpet because not all may qualify for use and if you use the wrong one you might invalidate the warranty. Do not rub the stain very hard this might cause permanent damage and also make further effort to dry it; you can use a fan if necessary. Call professionals immediately if you think that the cleaning process is unsuccessful. The stain will be permanent if you delay it.

Food color stains are very hard to get rid of from the carpet. And the best approach is to wash it out when possible. Tell your children to inform you right away if they spill something on the carpet.

You should clean the carpets every week and more regularly in areas which get heavy traffic. Dust and dirt be able to work through the bottom of the carpet and giving a natural dirty look which turn out to be very hard to clean later on. Dirt also tends to come together with oil residual in the air and attaches itself sturdily to the carpet fibers. But these can be easily controlled by regular vacuuming.

The bathroom is a place for fun, solitude and leisure. Come to think of it, we use the bathroom every single day for many things like getting dressed, shaving, putting on your make-up, and some people spend a substantial amount of time using the bathtub. And it is nice to have a shiny and clean bathroom to use everyday. Therefore, here are some cleaning tips for your bathroom.

The first thing you must do is to have a clean-up plan and get organize. Reserve a day for the job and then make a list of all things you want to achieve throughout the cleaning. It is significant to be precise and detailed when making your task list. Once you have established and are aware of the tasks involved, you now have to consider what cleaners and tools that will help you get all your tasks accomplished.

You will need a pail and brush or mop to work on the floor. Extra things that you need are towels or dust cloth, an old toothbrush, sponges, and glass and bathroom cleaners. You may also need a step stool or chair to access high windows, light fixtures, or ceilings.

You have to to remove all the old stuff lying around collecting dust before you start using the sponge. Discard all the makeup and skin care products that are already expired and you know you will never use. Recycle all empty bottles. Once you have a clean slate and have reduced the mess, then you can start working on flows, walls, ceiling, bathroom vanity and mirror.

Start with the hardest part: work on your sink, toilet, bathtub, tiles and all surfaces. Clean with a sponge and good quality disinfecting cleanser. For things like a mirror, you can use a mixture of one part vinegar and two parts water in a spray bottle.

Remove all items stored in your closets, shelves, etc. and then wipe cabinets, shelves and other storage systems in your bathroom with a disinfecting cleaner. Arrange all the items back in storage space. Rinse the sink, toilet, and tube with cold water with the shower head. Do not forget to clean up your trash can by wiping it inside and out. You may also want to wipe other items such as decorative items, to avoid the accumulation of dust. And finally, clean the floor with a mop.

Here are some fast and easy way to de-clutter you house:

Identify an area. Start in a small area such as one bookshelf or closet, or even one drawer. Choose a spot where you do not have emotional attachments and do not try to undertake your whole house at once.

Know what you have. You should know first what you have and pull it all out because it is not worth the effort to try organizing or de-cluttering that area if you do not know what you have in there. You also need to inform your family members and friends that this might get a bit ugly or messy.

Determine how many stuff you need. “Want” and “need” are two different things. You need to figure out how many things that you need. For example, there are only 52 weeks in one year and you only do laundry an average of once a week, so you only need at least seven pairs of socks. But you also need to have extra socks if you missed laundry.

Sort everything. You need to move fast and sort everything into three categories: keep, toss, maybe. And keep in mind that you need to get rid of anything broken or stained. You need to admit it, if you were going to fix the edge, clean the stain, or sew the hole, you should have done it by now.

Replace. Place the good stuff back in the closet or drawer (save the organizing for another day – today we’re just purging). It is already looks better, doesn’t it?

Send away. Get the rejects from the “toss” pile and place it in a plastic bag. Put them in the trunk of the car and deliver it to a dump or goodwill. Then get your “maybe” pile and tie them up. Place it in an unreachable yet safe place and if you do not miss something from that pile in one month, add the bag in the trunk and you can donate that as well.

There, you’ve done it! You can now relax, put your feet up, turn on the TV and watch your favorite movie or TV show, and have a chocolate. You deserve it.

If you have noticed, healthy cleaning products are becoming to be too expensive and because of that you may have determined not to get rid of all chemical-loaded cleaner. Non-toxic, natural cleaning may delight you to know that you protect your family’s health and that your home is a place for your bodies to relax and recover, rather than promote harm. And the main reason in using a non-toxic cleaner is that we make things easier, save money and stop breathing what is unhealthy for us.

Here, I will illustrate how to clean your home with healthy and natural products without spending too much money by making your own natural, non-toxic product. Everything you need for are:

Tea Tree oil

White distilled vinegar

Washing soda

Baking soda

Clean spray bottles

Glass jars

Liquid vegetable soaps called castile soap

These products can be found in health food stores, supermarkets, and home improvement and hardware stores. Small amount of this household cleaning formula cost about one-tenth the price of their commercial counterparts, and that includes costly, but worth of essential oils and concentrated, all-purpose detergents for homemade recipes.

But be sure to label all homemade cleaning products and keep them away from children and pets.

Oven Cleaner

1 cup or more baking soda

water

a spray or two of liquid castile soap

Spray water generously over the bottom of the oven, then cover the grime with an adequate amount of baking soda until the surface is totally white. Then spray a little more water over the top. Leave the mixture overnight. And since grime will have loosened next morning, you can easily wipe grease. Once you’ve cleaned up the worst mess, apply a bit liquid castile soap on a sponge, and wash the remaining residue from the oven.

Window Cleaner

¼ – ½-tablespoon liquid castile soap

3 tablespoons vinegar

2 cups water

Spray bottle

Place all the ingredients in a spray bottle, shake and use just like using a commercial brand. The soap is essential to remove the wax residue from the commercial brands you might have used.

All-Purpose Spray Cleaner

1-teaspoon borax

½-teaspoon washing soda

2 tablespoons vinegar

½-teaspoon castile soap

2 cups very hot tap water

Spray bottle

Mix all the ingredients in a spray bottle and shake the bottle gently until the minerals are dissolved. Spray the area to be cleaned and wiped with a sponge, rag or cellulose sponge cloth.

Disinfectant Spray

2 Cups Water

¼ Cup White Vinegar

¼ tsp. Tea Tree Oil

¼ tsp. Lavender Oil

Spray bottle

Combine and store in a spray bottle. Then shake. Use it wherever is necessary for interior design.
